Here are some of the organizations that

do not support BSL:

The Canadian Kennel Club

The BCVMA (BC Veterinary Medical Association)

The CVMS (Canadian Veterinary Medical Association)

The Canadian Safety Council

The Canadian Association of Pet Dog Trainers

The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies

The National Animal Coalition

The Toronto & Winnipeg Humane Society

Every provincial organization of the SPCA

The Pet Industry Advisory Council

The American Kennel Club

The American Veterinary Medical Association

These organizations promote and lobby for effective dangerous dog bylaws that are not breed specific. They recognize that any dog, in the wrong hands, can become a dog that is threatening and dangerous within the community.

The American Temperament Test Society is an organization that evaluates different aspects of temperament such as stability, shyness, aggressiveness and friendliness.  They test multiple dogs from the same breed to create better insight into the overall temperament of particular breeds and paint a more accurate portrait of behavior.  Here are some of the results from their 2006 evaluations:

American Pit Bull Terriers: 84.1%

American Staffordshire Terriers: 83.9%

Staffordshire Bull Terriers: 85.2%

Golden Retrievers: 83.8%

Border Collies: 80.0%

Standard Poodles: 85.7%

This clearly illustrates that the ‘Pit Bull breeds’ score just as high
as many well-loved family dogs such as the Golden Retrievers and Border Collies.
However, the Pit Bull type breeds face constant discrimination and prejudice.

BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. This basically means that a dog of a certain breed and look must abide by different laws than a dog who does not fit this criteria. After much research we have found that BSL simply does not work. Breed banning simply does not work. The only ones who suffer are the dogs.

"Singling out one or two breeds for control can result in a false sense of accomplishment and create a false sense of security. Of course, even dogs from small breeds can also bite and are absolutely capable of causing severe injury."

Are there particular breeds that are pre-disposed to aggression?

Absolutely not! There is NO scientific proof anywhere that supports this claim. In the United States, the Supreme Court has ruled that there was no genetic evidence that one breed of dog is more dangerous than another simply because of its breed.

"Variability in behavior has a wider range within a breed than breeds. Within the discipline of psychobiology and behavior, there is no data from empirically supported studies, published in referred scientific literature, to support the idea that one breed of dog is "vicious". The adult behavior of a domestic dog is determined overwhelmingly by the experiential history, environmental management and training."
